Criminal Citations and Summons to Appear

If you receive a summons to appear in the mail, your appearance in court is mandatory. You are being charged with a crime. Failure to appear for the scheduled hearing can result in a warrant being issued for your arrest.

Look for an appearance (arraignment) date on the front of the summons. This is the date and time for you to appear before the court to hear the allegations being brought against you. You will be given an opportunity to speak to a public defender that day and be advised of your rights. It is your responsibility to contact the court to correct any address changes or make any address updates.
