Concealed Pistol Licenses

Original CPLs

Fingerprints are required for Original applications to be considered complete.  We no longer offer fingerprint services at our department.

Fingerprints will need to be obtained by use of a 3rd party vendor.

King County Sheriff's Office is another available option for you, providing both fingerprinting and the issuance of your CPL.

If you choose to obtain fingerprints from a 3rd party vendor, any additional expenses incurred will not be reimbursed.

Per RCW 9.41.070(13a) applicants MUST reside in the City of Des Moines. If your license doesn't reflect this, please go to DOL.WA.GOV and update your address on your driver's license.

Prohibitive crimes

Local laws and ordinances on firearms are preempted by state laws and must be consistent with state law. Although state and local laws do not differ, federal law and state law on the possession of firearms differ. If you are prohibited by federal law from possession of a firearm, you may be prosecuted in federal court. A state license is not a defense to a federal prosecution.
