Current Projects
COMPLETE: Honoring Aging Mural
at S. 219th and 7th Ave With
funding from the Des Moines Legacy Foundation, the Des Moines Arts Commission
was able to commission an artist to create a vibrant mural intended to pay
homage to the aging process and our community. After a few starts and stops, the
arts commission selected Seattle artist Chandelle Anderson to create the vibrant
32’ x 12’ mural that now adorns the south facing wall of the QFC complex in the
downtown Des Moines Marina District. The mural is intended to have an
approximate lifespan of 10 years.

Public Art Collection Catalogue and Virtual Tour Arts Commissioners are at work creating a catalogue of city art work, including wonderful & rarely seen works located inside city buildings. The project will culminate with a virtual tour of the City of Des Moines public art collection, available to the public for viewing by visiting this site in the near future.
