Medication Disposal Event
Saturday, September 26th 2015 between 10am and 2pm
Des Moines Farmer’s Market in the Des Moines Marina
22307 Dock Ave S, next to the Marina Office.

The Des Moines Police Department has again partnered with the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA)and will be hosting a National Take-Back Initiative collection site in the City of Des Moines to collect unused, expired or unwanted prescriptions and over the counter solid medications for safe disposal, with no questions asked.

Most people are unaware that medicines languishing in home cabinets are highly susceptible to diversion, misuse and abuse. The rate of prescription abuse in the US is increasing at alarming rates, as are the number of accidental poisonings and overdoses due to these drugs. In addition, many people do not know how to properly dispose of their unused or outdated prescriptions.
