An Invitation from our Mayor

The Des Moines City Council and all City employees are ready to help your business thrive in “The Waterland City”. Whether you are an existing local business or you are considering locating here, please know that we work hard to create a culture where business investment and trade is appreciated and valued. Des Moines has numerous developable, commercial properties with considerable infrastructure already in place. Many of our business sites have fantastic views of Puget Sound, the Olympic Mountains, or Mount Rainier!

As a business in Des Moines’ downtown, you are just steps from our 900-slip Marina. Our downtown is home to a variety of businesses, from boat repair to hand-crafted jewelry to software development. High-end apartments and condominiums in the immediate area provide tremendous market opportunities for local goods and services. If instead your business requires immediate access to high-capacity, regional transportation systems, our Pacific Ridge neighborhood may be the best choice for you. Pacific Ridge is bisected by Pacific Highway South, a major north-south corridor that is being expanded by Des Moines and several other jurisdictions. Pacific Ridge is adjacent to Interstate 5, we are just 10 minutes from Sea-Tac International Airport. A 60-acre business park planned next door will bring new family-wage jobs to the Pacific Ridge area.

I understand that City services should help, not hinder, business activity. We do away with the delay and confusion of dealing with government by providing personal attention, streamlined permitting, and an “I can help you” attitude.

Welcome to Des Moines!
Mayor Bob Sheckler
