Valley City Counseling and Consultation
Des Moines Activity Center is pleased to be working with Valley Cites
Counseling and Consultation. There is no fee for these workshops. Their services
for our community are three fold: • Blueprint for Living Workshops •
Health & Wellness workshops • One on one counseling, information and
referral on senior issues.
Blueprint for Living Workshops
Will be held on the first and third Tuesday of each month, from 10-11:30am at
the Activity Center. Advance registration is appreciated by calling the senior
center, but not required.
Follow up on the process, plus telling and
sharing life stories.
April 17 Self Care for Caregivers
Discover resources and strategies that help you cope with the stress of
caregiving and how to take care of yourself.
April 24 Tissue and
Organ Donation 10:30 Curious about the impact and process of tissue
and organ donation? The Northwest Tissue Service, Eye Bank and the Organ Donors
Group will provide details and address your questions about this important
“gift” opportunity.
May 1 “I Can’t Remember, Am I Losing My
Mind?” Review normal challenges with memory, and discover memory
boosters tips. Alzheimer’s and other dementias will be covered.
May 8 Creating an Effective Care Plan 10:30 Design a care management
plan for yourself and/or family before it is needed. Gain peace of mind knowing
that reference materials and resources addressing the critical and important
information needed in medical emergencies are in one place for your emergency
contacts to access and implement, Presented by Sheila Goodfellow,

Dementia Communicating with a loved one with dementia is
challenging, discover information and practical tips on how to communicate and
get cooperation when you need it!

Stress related health problems cause pain and cost money. Learn how to live life
with more joy and ease by managing your stress.

planned hospital stay or an emergency, the discharge process is a whirlwind of
tough decisions: housing, rehabilitation or home care. Learn your options and

and explore how nature may boost your mood and your immune system.
June 19 Understanding Your Property Taxes and Local Levy Rate
12:30pm King County Department of Assessments shares information and
assistance about Tax Relief programs (senior and disability exemptions, limited
income deferrals, and tax assistance services). Assessors will be available to
help you fill out King County Property Tax Exemption forms. Information about
online services offered by the Department of Assessment will be presented.
You are encouraged to meet with staff following the session to clarify issues
specific to your situation
July 3 Is it Collecting or is it
Hoarding Plain talk about the differences between collecting and
hoarding. Learn to manage your “stuff” so it doesn’t manage you.
Tender Loving Care for Me Join us in a welcoming and safe setting to
share experiences, challenges and get professional advise to resolve challenges.

Caring Counseling A Valley
Cities counselor joins us during lunch and is available to answer questions,
provide information , resources and referrals! Just Ask! Tuesdays, 1st & 3rd
monthly 11:30-12:30pm DMAC
Support During the 11:30-12:30 lunch hour a counselor
will be available to answer questions, provide information, resources and
referrals. Feel free to introduce yourself as she mingles with the diners.
Tissue and Organ Donation
Have you ever wondered about the impact and process of tissue and organ
donation? The Northwest Tissue Service, Eye Bank and a representative from the
Organ Donors group will provide details and answer any questions you may have
