The Des Moines Activity Center is a community focal point where older adults and their families come together for services and activities that reflect their experience and skills, respond to their diverse needs and interests, enhance their dignity, support their independence and encourage their involvement in and with the Center and the Des Moines community. We focus on service to ALL AGES in the community who have needs, issues, and interests with older adults. Classes offered by Des Moines Activity Center are for 50 and older with space for those younger than 50 on an availability basis. Our hours are Monday, 8am-8pm (May through September) , and Tuesday through Friday, 8am-4pm. Call the Center at (206) 878-1642 if you have questions or comments.

DES MOINES ACTIVITY CENTER RE-0PENS ON SUMMER MONDAY NIGHTS!
Join the Activity Center Monday nights for new classes and activities. Beginning May 12th, we will be open till 8pm. We will remain open on Monday evenings through Monday September 22nd. We will be offering a variety of both indoor and outdoor activities including croquet, bocce ball, cards, and special interest classes to expand your personal health and knowledge. Check our monthly newsletter for an upcoming schedule of events.

2008 Participation Cards
Everyone who participates at the Activity Center is asked to complete an annual Participation Card.  These cards help us attain funding from various agencies.  The higher the number of participants, the more stable our funding becomes.  This card also provides us with valuable emergency information. Cards are available at the Activity Center front desk or you download a copy and mail it in to: P.O. Box 98576, Des Moines, WA 98198.

2008 Activity Center Participation Card - English or Espanol

Dental Van for Seniors Coming to Des Moines! 
Grace Lutheran Church, in partnership with Northwest Medical Teams International and the Des Moines Legacy Foundation, will offer its first FREE dental van service for seniors 55 and older.  A clinic is scheduled for May 9th.  Medical Teams International provides the dental van and staff (dentist and dental hygienist), Grace Lutheran Church provides the site for the dental van as well as the volunteers to handle the administrative procedures, and Des Moines Legacy Foundation is providing the financial support for three visits in 2008. Basic dental care will be offered to patients 55 and older who have no dental insurance or are low income and must live in Des Moines or Normandy Park.  For more information and to pick up a dental application, please contact Des Moines Activity Center, 206-878-1642.  Applications must be submitted prior to appointments for screening.  Proof of income and residency will be required.

ADVERTISE WITH US!
The Des Moines Activity Center offers space for advertising your business in our monthly newsletter. Our advertising fee for the year is $50.00 per month or $535.00 per year, a savings of $65.00. Your ad will be in over 1300 copies that are distributed through all city facilities, local businesses, as well as our monthly subscribers.  Your advertisement in this paper could increase your business within the community. Des Moines Activity Center publishes a bi-monthly newsletter detailing our programs and services.  Newsletters are available by subscription or by picking up copies at area businesses and city facilities. Contact the Activity Center if you would like to have the monthly newsletter emailed to you at no charge!
