South 216th Street Sidewalk Project
(Marine View Drive to 11th Avenue South)

Project Description:  South 216th Street will be widened along this corridor to provide a two-way left turn lane, curbs, gutter, and sidewalks along both sides of the street, and bicycle lanes in each direction.  Utilities will be placed underground as part of this project.

Partnership:  The design of this project was partially funded through a grant received from the King County Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program, and frontage improvement in-lieu fees provided by the Wesley Homes Retirement Center.

Design Process:  The design of this project is complete.  For a sneak peak at what the improvements will look like, take a look at the S. 216th Street Perspective View, near the curve at Marine View Drive.

Construction Phase:  The project has been advertised for bids, and the bid opening will be on February 25th, 2010.  For information, please refer to the Advertisement.

The City received $510,000 in construction funding from the CDBG program. The City is hoping to begin construction of this project in late March or early April of 2010.  The chosen contractor will have 180 working days to complete the work.
