Winter Preparedness Checklist

Vehicle Preparedness
[ ] Warm clothes/blankets in trunk
[ ] Chains in trunk
[ ] Full gas tank
[ ] Sand/shovel in trunk
[ ] Window ice scraper
[ ] Flares, flashlight
[ ] Antifreeze
[ ] Proper tire condition

Family Emergency Plan
[ ] Know school/daycare plans
[ ] Alternative shelter plans
[ ] Alternative transportation arrangements
[ ] Identified snow routes
[ ] Bus timetables

Home Preparedness
[ ] Battery-operated radio/flashlights
[ ] Fresh batteries
[ ] Well-stocked provisions
[ ] Wrap pipes

Individual home and property owners are responsible for clearing their driveways and sidewalks.

Drive only if necessary; listen to local traffic conditions. Do not follow closely behind snowplows or sanding trucks. They may stop suddenly or spray sand, rocks or other material. If you must abandon your vehicle, pull as far off the road as possible to prevent accidents, problems clearing snow and ice from the roadway.

Do not sled on roads/streets even if they have been closed.
