Crime Free Housing Program

On January 28, 2010 the Des Moines City Council repealed Chapter 5.64 of the Des Moines Municipal Code and reenacted a new chapter 5.64, entitled Rental Housing.  Under the new ordinance participation in a crime free rental housing program is voluntary.  The new ordinance requires property owners to take reasonable steps to prevent the use of their rental property for criminal purposes.  With the changes to the ordinance the Des Moines Police Department is no longer offering Landlord Training classes, instead we have partnered with other South King County agencies and will be offering three Landlord Training opportunities throughout the year.   The seminars are 8 hours long and cost $25.00.  The class locations will vary throughout the year.
