Des Moines Field House
1000 South 220th Street

The Field House, the only full-log cabin in Washington State, was built in 1939 as part of a Depression-era recovery program, and was designated as a King County Historic Landmark in 1984. The Field House offers three areas available for rent: the picnic shelter, a large meeting room (Studio), and Gymnasium. Each of the areas may be rented simultaneously by different user groups. The same group may rent more than one area. Amenities include a skate park, 2 tennis courts, a playground area, covered picnic tables, and 40 parking spaces. The park and accompanying amenities surrounding the Field House are open to the general public daily from 8:00am-dusk, except rental facilities listed above and both baseball fields.

Field House Gymnasium
Seating Capacity: 225

The Field House Gym is 48 feet by 97 feet and located on the upper level of the Field House. This facility is ideal for large size groups and receptions. It’s log cabin appeal is enhanced with a full-length rock fireplace (not usable), stage (19 feet by 16 feet), and maple hardwood floors throughout. A limited number of six-foot rectangle tables and chairs are available. There is a kitchen downstairs that is included when the gym is rented. All additional equipment and supplies are the responsibility of the renter.

Field House Large Meeting Room (Studio)
Seating Capacity: 55

The Studio is a large open room located on the lower level of the Field House. This room is ideal for small to medium size groups. The floor is tile, one wall is mirrored, and the room has a Ping-Pong table. It is also in close proximity to the kitchen. Men’s and women’s restrooms are located on the lower level as well. A limited number of tables and chairs are available. All additional equipment and supplies are the responsibility of the renter.

Field House Picnic Shelter
Seating Capacity: 32

This picnic shelter is located on the southeast corner of the Field House property. The shelter contains four (4) picnic tables. Two (2) permanent barbecue pits are located just outside the shelter. Rental groups must provide their own charcoal. Several parking spaces are located next to the shelter.

The park and accompanying amenities surrounding the Field House are open to the general public daily from 8:00am-dusk, except the rental facilities listed above and both baseball fields. Park amenities include a skate park, two tennis courts, playground area, uncovered picnic tables, and 40 parking spaces located on 220th Street, which are also available for the general public. Restrooms are available inside the Field House only during Field House hours. Portable bathroom units are available for picnic shelter rentals not during Field House hours.
