Mission Statement:
To provide the opportunity and to encourage the diverse population of the greater Des Moines area to participate in life-enhancing activities through developed and well-maintained park land and facilities, professional programming and services, and the optimum utilization of community resources.

Swine Flu Policy:  The Before & After School Programs will follow the closure schedule of the school districts.  If a school is closed due to swine flu the programs associated with that school will also be closed.

Inclement Weather Policy:
Des Moines Park & Recreation does its best to follow established activity schedules but occasionally changing Northwest weather dictates the need to cancel or postpone activities.

  • Ballfield Conditions Line: Do you have a game or practice on one of our fields and it is raining? Call our Ballfield Conditions Line to check the status of your field! (206) 870-6597.
  • Before & After School Program: Snow or other unscheduled closure days are difficult for everyone involved. When your school has a late start because of snow or an unscheduled closure, the Before and After School Programs will be cancelled.
