Building Division
The Building Division is responsible for overseeing the building construction within the City of Des Moines. They review building plans for compliance with applicable local and national codes, issues building permits and inspects buildings during construction for compliance with the approved plans. They are also the final accepting authority for occupancy permits.
Building, Planning, and Engineering Staff are available to answer your general questions and perform Plan Prescreening and Intake between the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. daily. Plan Revisions and Deferred Submittals will also be screened during those hours.
