Human Services Advisory Committee
Powers and Duties The Human Services Advisory Committee advises the City Council on:
- Determination of priorities of human service needs within the City in accordance with the current human services plan.
- Evaluation and recommendation on funding human service requests submitted to the City.
- Evaluation and review of the performance of individual human service organizations and agencies.
- Members, appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council, serve without compensation for a 2-year term.

Human Service Openings The City of Des Moines is now accepting applications for two openings on its Human Services Advisory Committee. This seven member committee advises the Des Moines City Council on human services issues in our community and makes recommendations for human services funding. The position is for a three year term, beginning January 2010. The Committee meets approximately 9 times a year. For more details please call Sue Padden, 206-878-1642.
